2. The "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) Architecture
To understand our privacy practices, you must first understand how our platform is engineered. Vāṇī AI does not provide its own proprietary text-to-speech API. Instead, our platform acts as a secure bridge.
We utilize the Google Gemini Text-to-Speech models (currently Gemini 2.5 Flash TTS, though models may update over time). To use our studio, you must bring your own personal Google API Key.
- You paste your API key: It is stored temporarily in your device's browser.
- You write your script: The text is typed into a local text box.
- You click Generate: Your browser sends a direct, secure request to Google's servers.
- The audio returns: Google sends the generated audio file back directly to your browser for download.
At no point in this cycle does your API key or your written script pass through a central database owned by Vāṇī AI. We do not have a backend database that logs the content you are generating.
3. API Key Handling and Local Storage
Your Google API key acts as your password to access Google's services. Protecting it is our top priority.
Where is my API key stored?
When you enter your API key into our studio, we use a web technology called Browser Local Storage. This means the key is saved directly on your physical device (your mobile phone or computer's hard drive), inside your specific browser (like Chrome or Safari).
What we DO NOT do with your API key:
- We do not upload your key to our servers.
- We do not share your key with third-party advertisers.
- We do not sell your key.
- Our website administrators cannot see your key.
Because the key is stored in your local browser, it improves your user experience. You do not have to paste the key every time you refresh the page. If you wish to remove your key, you can click the "Reset Studio Key" button at the bottom of the studio, or simply clear your browser's cache and site data. This instantly deletes the key from your device.
4. Script Privacy and Content Ownership
Content creators often use our platform to narrate proprietary courses, unreleased YouTube scripts, and private corporate training materials. We respect your intellectual property.
Because of our client-side architecture, Vāṇī AI does not intentionally collect, store, or monitor the text scripts you paste into the editor. When you close the browser tab, the text disappears from our interface.
Furthermore, you own the audio you generate. Vāṇī AI does not claim copyright over the WAV files you download. You are free to use them for commercial purposes, including YouTube monetization, podcasting, and social media advertising, provided your content complies with local laws and Google's Terms of Service.
5. Data We May Collect
While we do not collect your scripts or API keys, running a global website requires us to understand basic traffic patterns to ensure the site remains fast and accessible.
We may automatically collect non-personally identifying information, including:

A Note on Absolute Security
While our BYOK model heavily improves privacy by removing backend database risks, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. We employ reasonable safeguards, but we cannot guarantee absolute security against advanced malware or keyloggers that may exist on your personal computer.
